' has been quite popular in both Tamil and Malayalam films. But not many know that actor Jayaram was approached to play a role in the film, 'Muthu', and though a versatile actor, he refused to accept the Superstar film. Later, Sharath Babu was offered the role.

Jayaram has revealed the reason behind opting out of Rajini’s film and the reason will make Superstar fans look at this actor in awe. In the script, there was a scene in which Jayaram’s character has to slap Rajini’s character and Jayaram didn’t want to do that, and hence he opted out of the film. In an earlier interview, Jayaram said that while approached for the movie, he didn’t know Rajini well and if he had slapped his character in 'Muthu', Rajini fans would have taken him apart. But the same actor didn’t hesitate to slap Kamal Haasan in the movie, 'Thenali' directed by KS Ravikumar. However, Jayaram revealed that he had worked with Kamal in the Malayalam film' Chanakyan' and hence he was quite comfortable with him.
