With hit films like Nooravathu Naal, Mudhal Vasantham, Chinna Thambi Periya Thambi, Jallikattu, Pudhu Manithan, Vaazhkai Chakkaram and

Amaidhi Padai

, the Sathyaraj-Manivannan collaboration is one of the most loved actor-director combo's in Tamil cinema. They also acted together in films that were directed by other filmmakers, most notably the comedies Thaai Maman and Maman Magal.

On the director-actor's eighth death anniversary, today, Sathyaraj has come out with a video sharing his memories of his good friend. In the video, the senior actor says, "People tell me today, June 15, is my friend,

director

Manivannan's death anniversary. But for me, all the 365 days are my Thalaivan's remembrance day. Because, without Manivannan, there would be no Sathyaraj. The Sathyaraj baani is actually Manivannan's baani!"

He adds that it is not just him, but the entire Tamil film industry continues to fondly remember Manivannan and gives a couple of examples. "Recently, in Master, Vijay had a dialogue in which he says, 'Periya Amaidhippadai Ammavasai-nu nenappu!' And in the about-to-be release Jagame Thandhiram, Dhanush says, 'Chozhar parambarayil oru Londan dhadha'," he lists out.

For still remembering his friend, the actor offers thanks to Vijay, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Karthik Subbaraj and Dhanush, and adds that after hearing the line, 'Chozhar parambarayil oru Londan dhadha', he went into flashback mode and started remembering the scene in Amaidhippadai and even started wishing that he should start acting as a villain again. "The only thing is to create a character like Amaidhippadai Ammavasai for me, I need my friend Manivannan. Thalaiva, you shouldn't have left us this early. Hats off, thalaiva!" the actor signs off.
