The first-look posters of
Harish Kalyan’s film with
Ranjit Jeyakodi, titled Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum, has gone viral since it released last night. While we’ve told you that the actor plays a biker and a boxer in the romantic entertainer, Ranjit tells us that there’s much more to his character. In fact, the director says the title of the film is directly related to the characters Harish and
Shilpa Manjunath play in this film.
“‘Ispade’ is a local way of referring to ‘spade’ in a deck of cards. The film deals with two characters that are as different as chalk and cheese. You can see ‘ispade raja’ commonly in your city, your street, and even in your home — he wears torn jeans, dirty tee, but stylish coolers. On the other hand, it’s difficult to spot ‘idhaya rani’; her hangout spots are multiplexes, malls, pubs and lounges. These two people belong to two different worlds, but what happens when their paths cross? That’s what the film is about,” says Ranjit, who last helmed Puriyatha Puthir.
Terming this film a ‘pidivadhamana kadhal kadhai’, the director adds, “Harish hit the gym with vengeance to get a masculine body. He plays an arrogant guy, and his characterisation will be entirely different from his chocolate boy avatar in Pyaar Prema Kadhal. Even Shilpa has an image makeover in this.”
