Happy Birthday, Shankar: 'Boys' to '2.O', unmissable films helmed by the ace filmmaker

Shankar is one of the successful directors in the industry of cinema. He has directed 12 films in Tamil and all of them have managed to hit the bull's eye at the box office. Shankar is one of the highest-paid directors in Indian cinema, who turns 57 today. 'Boys' - 2003

The romance mixed musical drama 'Boys' has Siddharth, Bharath, Manikandan, S Thaman, Nakul and Genelia in the lead roles. After working with top stars, Shankar had joined hands with new faces for the film and received a great response from the audience. For the Maro Maro song, which was set on a cricket field, the director had handled a large number of stars.

'Anniyan' - 2005

The action thriller 'Anniyan' features Vikram and Sadha in lead roles. Shankar has experimented with new technologies in the film, and it helped him bag the prestigious National Award for its wonderful special effects. 'Anniyan' was the most expensive South Indian film at that time, and it grossed great numbers at the box office. Vikram played the role of a person affected by the split-personality syndrome. Shankar has travelled to almost 16 live locations to shoot the colourful visuals of the song Iyengaaru Veetu.

'Sivaji' - 2007

Shankar had joined hands with Rajinikanth for the first time for 'Sivaji', and it turned out to be the biggest blockbuster at the box office. Also, this was Shankar's second directorial to win the National Award for special effects. Shankar has worked hard in making the film and delivered astonishing visuals in the songs Balleilakka, Athiradee, and Sahana.

'Enthiran' - 2010

The science fiction action-drama 'Enthiran' has Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles. Rajinikanth's role as a sophisticated android robot Chitti was well appreciated by the audience. Shankar had made a perfect entertainer and had bagged another National Award for delivering a stunning film like Enthiran.

2.0' - 2018

The sequel of 'Enthiran', '2.0' was released in the year 2018, and the film fulfilled its expectation. '2.0' was made simultaneously in 2D and 3D, it turned out to be one of the highest-grossing Indian films. The scene in which Chitti takes on Pakshi Rajan was shot on Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
