Ajith was paired up with Shalini, and their chemistry worked well in the film as it was the time when he fell in love with the actress. The romantic action drama turned out to be the biggest blockbuster for the actor.

'Billa'

Ajith remade Rajinikanth's 'Billa' with the same title, and the upgraded version seemed more stylish. Ajith played a dual role in the gangster drama, which was directed by Vishnuvardhan, and the film was completely an entertaining package. Yuvan Shankar Raja's musical added more power to the film, and the film made at a cost of Rs 15 crores grossed five times higher than its budget.

'Mankatha'

'Mankatha' is a crucial film for Ajith as it marked his 50th film, and he surprised the fans by playing a negative shaded character in the film. Ajith displayed a power-packed performance in the heist thriller, and the film had a successful theatrical run for over 100 days. It also turned out as Ajith's first crore grosser.

'Viswasam'

Ajith played a family man who wishes to reunite with his separated wife and daughter in the family drama 'Viswasam'. It yielded a high profit for the makers by grossing over Rs 130 crores in Tamil Nadu.
