Music composer turned actor
GV Prakash Kumar is awaiting the release his much-awaited ‘Sarvam Thaala Mayam’ directed by cinematographer-filmmaker
Rajiv Menon. Tipped to be a musical drama, ‘Sarvam Thaala Mayam’ has music by Academy Award winner AR Rahman. The lastest about the film is that it would be premiering at the 31t Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) before releasing in India.
The film marks the comeback of the cinematographer-filmmaker Rajiv Menon. So far, Rajiv has directed two films- ‘Minsara Kanavu’ and ‘Kandukondain Kandukondain’, which received critical acclaim and commercial success.
The film also stars veteran actor Nedumudi Venu, Aparna Balamurali, Vineeth and Divyadarshini in important roles. Set across various locations in India including Kashmir, Shillong, Jaipur & Kerala, the film is about a gifted young musician from a unprivileged family who wishes to learn the art of learning to mridangam from the a top Maestro. He faces rejection from the Carnatic music community as well as from his family. Can his talent overcome caste system and social boundaries in todays India forms the crux of the story.
The 31st TIFF is set to kick off this year on Oct. 25, and will run until Nov. 3, at Tokyo's Roppongi Hills, Ex Theater in the capital's Minato Ward, and other venues in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
