After wowing audiences with her performance in 96 and Karnan, Gouri Kishan will be seen next in a female-centric film titled Ulagammai. The film’s director
Vijay Prakash says, “It’s a period film, based on the novel Oru Kottuku Veliye by Su Samuthiram. I studied Tamil literature when I was in college and worked on this particular novel for a project. It was then that I decided that I’d adapt it into a film.”
The film is based on caste discrimination.
“Gouri’s character is a fighter, who faces issues because of caste,” he adds.
The team has begun shooting near Tirunelveli. “Gouri will be seen in a different look, and will also speak in the Nellai slang,” he informs. The film, which also stars GM Sundar, Marimuthu and Arul Mani, has
Ilaiyaraaja composing the music.
