Actor Gautham Karthik's upcoming period film, '1947, August 16' bankrolled by AR Murugadoss, and helmed by his long-time associate NS Ponkumar is gearing up for a summer release. While the film is set to hit the screens on April 7, 2023, the makers have released the trailer of the period film.
Actor Karthi and music composer Anirudh released the trailer of the film through their social networking page. The story is set in a village called Sengadu, which is said to be the capital of slavery.
Sharing the trailer, actor Karthi wrote, "A very interesting story line and an earnest attempt to make it into a good film. Happy to share #1947AUGUST16’s official trailer. Best wishes to @Gautham_Karthik @NsPonkumar @selvakumarskdop @ARMurugadoss and team."
Produced by AR Murugadoss, the period drama is touted to be a pan-India film. The film, which was shot at locations in Tamil Nadu, is currently in post-production. The film is a fascinating tale of an erstwhile village where one brave man battles evil British forces for love during the cusp of Indian independence.
Meanwhile music composer Anirudh posted, "Happy to release the trailer of #1947AUGUST16 ! Best wishes to the entire team."
The film will release in cinemas all over in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam and English.
