Actor Gautham Karthik's upcoming period film, '1947, August 16' bankrolled by AR Murugadoss, is all set to hit the screens on April 7, 2023. The film helmed by AR Murugadoss' long-time associate NS Ponkumar has been cleared by the Censor Board with an U/A certificate.
The story is set in a village called Sengadu, which is said to be the capital of slavery. The film is a fascinating tale of an erstwhile village where one brave man battles evil British forces for love during the cusp of Indian independence.
Produced by AR Murugadoss, the period drama is touted to be a pan-India film. The film also has Pugazh, Richard Ashton and Revathy in important roles. The film will release in cinemas all over in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam and English.
