After impressing fans with 'Pathu Thala' this week, Gautham Karthik is set to entertain fans again with his next release 'August 16, 1947' and the film is slated to release on April 7. Ahead of the film release Gautham Karthik interacted with ETimes in an exclusive chat along with the film producer AR Murugadoss to share their experience working for the film.

The upcoming Tamil film 'August 16, 1947' has grabbed major eyeballs post the trailer launch, and the interesting trailer is doing well on the video streaming platform. Directed by Ponkumar, 'August 16, 1947' features Gautham Karthik in the lead role, and the film involves AR Murugadoss in the production side.
In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Gautham Karthik and AR Murugadoss spill the beans on 'August 16, 1947'.

AR Murugadoss' decision to shoulder the film is one of the biggest attractions of 'August 16, 1947'. "During my salad days, I received support from many people, and I am doing the same for my assistants. Being my assistant won’t necessarily help them grab a project. Also, I invest in talented people, and when Ponkumar narrated the script of 'August 16, 1947', I was impressed,” AR Murugadoss tells us.

"We faced several challenges while filming this periodic film. The film has come out well and I thank all the technicians for their hard work. I visited the set one day to see how things are going, and was blown away by how Ponkumar was handling the job,” he adds.
Be it the demeanour or the work, there is a constant comparison between Gautham and his father Karthik, and AR Murugadoss shares his thoughts on the same. “Gautham Karthik and his father
Karthik sir have similar voices, but his father is a legend. Gautham follows a different path, and he certainly will conquer more heights.”

Gautham Karthik adds to it by emphasizing that the comparison is indeed an honour, "I love the comparison. I am his blood, so I will have many traits of him. I take it positively, and it has also helped me to reach a wider audience".
The young actor opens up about working with Ponkumar, "Being a director's actor, all I do is to trust him completely. Ponkumar made it very easy for me, and I didn't had to do much homework for the film. He detailed my character and scenes very well that my job got easy.”

He further adds, "The village shown in the film is an isolated location, and in the story, the characters aren’t aware of the freedom fighters. The villagers are fighting their battle with the British. August 16, 1947' is completely fictional film, and Ponkumar has done great research.”
Before wrapping up, Gautham Karthik opens up about his wedding with Manjima Mohan, "We always wanted to keep our relationship private. When the news came out, we were flooded with wishes. We are happy for all the love and blessing.
