Vishnu Vishal and
Aishwarya Lekshmi will be reprising their roles as Veera and Keerthi in Gatta Kusthi 2. The director of the first part,
Chella Ayyavu, will also helm the sequel.
Stating that he did not think of a sequel when he did Gatta Kusthi , he says, “The response the first part received from the audience is the reason for doing this sequel. At the end of that film, the couple are happily together. But we thought there was scope for a second part,” he shares, adding that the second film will be an extension of the original story.
“Usually, what transpires when two people who were separated get back together is not shown onscreen. We thought it would make for a good family drama. So, in this instalment, Vishnu (the male lead) will play the role of a supportive husband. What happens next in the couple’s lives is what the film will be about,” he says.
He adds, “I floated the idea for this film to Vishnu last year. He liked it and asked me to develop it. He is clear about what he wants and also pro- vides inputs. As for Aishwarya, her role will be as important as in the previous film."
Actors Kaali Venkat, Karunas and Munishkanth will also be reprising their roles in the sequel, while Karunakaran will be a new addition to the cast.
With the shoot for the sequel having kicked off, the director says, "When we developed this film, we realised that there was more scope for comedy in it. There will also be new characters in this film."
