Director Nelson Dilipkumar is celebrating his birthday today, June 21. The director is turning 40 today, and the director, from being a TV show director to becoming a producer today in the Tamil film industry, has had an interesting journey for the past 14 years as he toiled to become one of the successful directors. Nelson Dilipkumar is known for his fascinating tale of determination, creativity, and evolution in the Tamil entertainment industry. Here's an overview of his career progression:

​An assistant script writer


Nelson Dilipkumar started his career in television, where he directed various TV shows and was known for his innovative storytelling and unique directorial style. He even directed the reality show that cast Kamal Haasan as the host and then began his film career from there.

Nelson made his debut with the film 'Kolamaavu Kokila'. And how he approached Nayanthara to play the lead in the film is another story for another time. The movie was a blockbuster, and with his debut project becoming a hit in 2018, Nelson paved his way into Kollywood. However, not many know that his first project went on floors in 2010 with Simbu, and it was later shelved.

The director is now scripting the film 'Jailer 2', and apart from taking the role of director, he is also donning the cap of a producer for the film 'Bloody Beggar' starring Kavin in the lead role. Directed by Sivabalan, his associate, the movie also stars Redin Kingsley.
