Filmmakers stand by Sekar, slam media

CHENNAI: Leading Tamil film directors and producers on Friday came together in support of veteran filmmaker V Sekar who was arrested by the CID on Wednesday night.
Tamil Film Directors Association secretary R K Selvamani said Sekar was innocent. "Director Vikraman and I met Sekar at Puzhal Central Prison. He told us that he had no connection with the group involved in the stealing and smuggling of idols," Selvamani said.
He criticised a section of the media for reporting that Sekar had confessed to the crime. "It's false information. Sekar has not given any statement to police admitting to his role in idol smuggling," he said.
