‘Dragon’ box office collections day 21: Pradeep Ranganathan’s film mints Rs 94.85 crores

Pradeep Ranganathan’s ‘Dragon’ continues its strong theatrical run, collecting Rs 94.85 crore at the domestic box office by the end of its 21st day. The Tamil comedy entertainer, which opened to impressive numbers, has managed to maintain steady collections despite new releases.


According to the Sacnilk website, ‘Dragon’ earned Rs 94.10 crore net in India over its first 20 days. On its 21st day, the film added approximately Rs 75 lakhs across all languages, bringing it closer to the coveted Rs 100 crore milestone. The film had an overall Tamil occupancy of 14.40% on Thursday, March 13, 2025, with night shows recording the highest footfall at 15.97%.

Breaking down its box office journey, Dragon saw a strong opening weekend, collecting Rs 30.05 crore in just three days. The momentum continued into its first full week, accumulating Rs 50.3 crore. In its second week, the film witnessed a slight dip but still managed a respectable Rs 31.9 crore. Despite the expected slowdown in its third week, Dragon continued to draw audiences, particularly during weekends, with its 16th day (Saturday) registering a notable Rs 3.65 crore.


ETimes gave the movie a rating of 4 stars out of 5, and our review reads, “Even the famous “Idhu ungallukku sonna puriyaadhu sir” dialogue makes a cameo. Apart from these, you also get hat tips to Premam, Simbu, and other films and actors, adding flavour to the comedy sequences. From roping in VJ Siddhu and Harshath Khan to all the interesting meta references, Ashwath has managed to cater to the youth in all possible ways. Speaking about such references, the film’s other big strength is the small but emotionally loaded dialogues — for example, "Oru thappu panitu easy ah kadantharlaam nu nenaikurom, but adhu thoratite iruku la" — that are written with care. The casting, too, is simply perfect. Pradeep Ranganathan as Raghavan aka Dragon makes you empathise with him even as he repeatedly makes wrong choices.”
