has now levelled plagiarism charges against the makers of ‘Diya’, claiming that the core story was is.

According to the reports, Chandrakumar, an erstwhile assistant to director Rajakumaran, had conceived the idea on how an abortion forms the revenge story sometime back in 2015. He has now alleged that ‘Diya’ had most of the scenes from his film, which was supposed to star Rajakumaran in the lead. Chandrakumar also clarified that he has no connection with director AL Vijay whatsoever, but claimed that ‘Diya’ was his story. The makers of ‘Diya’ are yet to respond on this issue.

Starring Sai Pallavi and

Naga Shourya

in the lead, ‘Diya’ was previously titled ‘Karu’ in Tamil. However, the makers were forced to change the title, as it was already registered by some other production house.

Produced by Lyca Productions, the film also stars RJ Balaji, Santhana Bharathi, Rekha and Nizhalgal Ravi in supporting roles. ‘Diya’ has been simultaneously released in Telugu as ‘Kanam’.
