Ashok Kumar, who has been working as a co-producer along with
Sasikumar
hanged himself to death on Tuesday. Ashok
Kumar
, committed suicide at his residence in
Valasaravakkam
due to financial trouble. In his suicide note, Ashok Kumar, has blamed a film financier for pushing him to take the extreme step.
Director M Sasikumar has filed a police complaint against financier Anbu Chezhiyan. He was accompanied by a number of celebrities from the Tamil film industry, including directors Bala, Samudrakani, Karu Pazhaniappan and
Ameer.
Ashok states in his letter that he has been paying back the loan to Anbuchezhian for the last 7 years and is not able to cope with it anymore, since he was being continuously harassed and insulted.
A visibly distraught Sasikumar, said, “He was my cousin. He was like my shadow, he was a co-producer. He used to manage my film and financial affairs.”
Director Ameer, talking to reporters later, said the police had registered a case of abetment of suicide under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code. The Valasaravakkam Police sent the body to the Government Royapettah Hospital for postmortem.
Sasikumar shot to fame with films like Nadodigal and Subramaniapuram. Ashok Kumar worked as an associate producer in his film company.
