Director Mari Selvaraj embarks on a rescue mission in the Nellai floods

Tirunelveli, aka Nellai, was heavily affected by the recent rainfall, and the surroundings received rainfall that they hadn't witnessed in over 50 years. Director Mari Selvaraj said he could not go to his native village, Puliangulam, in the Tirunelveli district.


Due to heavy water flow from dams including Papanasam and Manimutthar, many areas were flooded with water, several scary videos have been hitting the internet and people were struggling for survival. For which the Tamil Nadu government had already begun the rescue process. Mari Selvaraj took to social media to explain the condition of the floods in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin and requested that the TN government take quick action.

By listing the names of villages affected by floods, Mari Selvaraj said that more than twenty villages could not be contacted at all. As all these villages are agricultural field villages between the river and the pond, the director requested that rescue operations be carried out in some way as soon as possible. Mari Selvaraj has also been associated with actor and TN Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in the rescue process, and he has been inspecting the flood-affected areas to help his native people.


On the work front, Mari Selvaraj last directed 'Maamannan' featuring Udhayanidhi Stalin in the lead roles, and the film was a good hit. Mari Selvaraj is currently working on the post-production of his next release, 'Vaazhai', and the film is expected to release early in 2024. Mari Selvaraj also has a film announced with Dhruv Vikram in the lead role, and the director has reportedly completed some initial shooting for the film.
