The Chennai Saidapet court has sentenced 6-month jail or a Rs 10000 fine to director Lingusamy in a cheque bounce case. Though the director has appealed against the Saidapet court's verdict at the
Madras High Court, he has reportedly paid the fine of Rs 10000 to relieve from the 6-month jail sentence.
Lingusamy's Tirupathi Brothers had taken a loan of around Rs 1.3 crore from PVP Capitals to direct the 'Enni Ezhu Naal' featuring
Karthi and Samantha.
But the director continued to shoot the film without repaying the loan amount to the production house, so a case was filed in Madras High Court on behalf of PVP Capitals against the Tirupathi Brothers. The High Court heard the case and ordered Director Lingusamy to repay the loan received from PVP Capitals. Following this order, director Lingusamy issued a cash cheque for Rs 1.3 crore to PVP Capitals.
But the cheque issued by Lingusamy returned with insufficient funds in the bank, and PVP Capitals filed a check fraud case against director Lingusamy and his brothers in the Saidapet court. Saidapet court, which heard the case, sentenced director Lingusamy to 6 months imprisonment in the cheque bounce case and fined him Rs 10000.
It is worth mentioning that Lingusamy has also appealed against the cheque bounce case filed by PVP Capitals at the Madras High Court.
