The government has allowed theatres to screen five shows a day for a week during the festive period Deepavali has come early for Tamil film producers and theatre owners in the state. Not to mention the stars whose films are releasing on that day. The Tamil Nadu government has issued an order allowing theatres in the city to screen five shows a day during the first week of
Deepavali.
Says Abirami Ramanthan, President Chennai City Film Exhibitors Association, Every year, we request permission to screen five shows during the Deepavali weekend. But this year, we have been granted permission to have five shows from October 26 till November 1. In short, theatres in the city will be screening five shows for seven days instead of only during the five-day weekend.
Traditionally, Deepavali is considered by the Kollywood trade as the time when everybody (from families to youngsters) likes to watch new movies on the big screen. The previous festive period, which was the fiveday weekend during Eid, was hugely beneficial for Ajiths Mankatha and Salman Khans Bodyguard, and both the movies recorded mammoth openings. This seven-day window will certainly help boost the box office prospects of the Deepavali releases Suriyas 7aum
Arivu, Vijays Velayudham and Shah Rukh Khans Ra.One.
