Late actor
Daniel Balaji’s final film, RPM, will be a crime suspense thriller helmed by The Sound Story director
Prasad Prabhakar. “The film is about a group of criminals who disguise themselves as packers and movers and get blueprints of people's houses. They do this to kidnap girls for organ trafficking,” shares Prasad.
He shares that Daniel Balaji will be the main man of the group. “He is the mastermind behind all that's happening,” he states, adding, “RPM is about a girl (Dhaya Prasad), a pharmacist in a hospital, who becomes aware of this crime.” The film also features Y Gee Mahendra, who will essay a grey-shaded doctor, and Devadarshini, who is playing an investigative journalist.
Speaking about Daniel Balaji, Prasad has nothing but praise for the actor, who passed away in March 2024. “In the film, his acting would be very subtle. His character has very few dialogues. When he acted in a scene, he’d enquire about the scenes that come before and after that one because he wanted to fully imbibe the character. It’s sad that we’ve lost an actor who could transform into a character without any limitations or inhibitions.”
‘He passed away a few days after the filming got over’
Prasad also revealed the most telling moment he shared with Daniel Balaji. “Before shooting for the film began, he told me his heart said ours would be his last film. He passed away a few days after the filming got over. We had even shot the lead-up scenes to the second part of the film,” he reveals.
