The fourth match of ongoing T20 league in India between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals had the whole country talking about the match, courtesy
Ravi Ashwin
mankading Royals’ wicket-keeper batsman
Jos Butler. Butler was given out after Ashwin ran him out at the non-striker’s end when he stepped out of the crease before the ball was released, Butler left the field fuming. This was the first time an incident of mankading had happened in the history of IPL. After the match, the social media was on fire debating the topic.
Many cricketers posted their opinions on social media, with a few continuing the conversation. The director of ‘Tamizh Padam’
CS Amudhan
defending what Ashwin did took to his micro-blogging site to post his opinion. He posted, ‘Batsman was out of the crease, it was a run-out.’ Following it up with another tweet he posted, ‘Allowing batsmen to cheat is not spirit-of-the-game. Well done @ashwinravi99 ! Do it often, do it all the time.’
Reflecting on the issue and responding to former cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath’s tweet,
Vishnu Vishal posted, ‘Yes agree totally:) we all go by instincts n our decisions on field r in split seconds...whthr to declare him outno was in the hands of the third umpire.. (sic)’
