'Coolie' box office collection day 8: Rajinikanth faces a slight decline, retains screens for second week
Superstar Rajinikanth's much-anticipated film 'Coolie' hit the theatres on August 14. The film recorded houseful performances from the very first day, with fans celebrating. Not only in Tamil Nadu, but also in Hindi and Telugu markets, the film has had a strong opening. The huge reception it received in its first week has once again proven Rajinikanth's box office power, and the film has retained most of its screens for the second week.
Coolie Movie Review
'Coolie' has earned around Rs 216 crores in the first 6 days of its release. It had a big opening of Rs65 crores on the first day alone, as per Sacnilk. It had a strong weekend collection of Rs 54.75 crores on the second day, Rs39.5 crores on the third day, and Rs35.25 crores on the fourth day, Sunday. However, the collection declined from Monday and Tuesday of the week. Monday saw a slight decline at Rs12 crore and Tuesday at Rs9.5 crore.
The seventh and eighth day collections received significant attention at the box office. On the seventh day, 'Coolie' collected around Rs6.59 crores in India nett. On the eighth day, Thursday, it recorded a collection of only Rs 87 lakh across all languages. With this, the Indian net collection of 'Coolie' has increased to Rs223.46 crores at the end of the first weekend. Despite the slight decline in collection, the film is expected to perform well again in terms of audience attendance and second weekend theatrical release.
Alongside Rajinikanth in the lead, 'Coolie' also features Nagarjuna Akkineni, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Rachita Ram, and the music for the film was composed by Anirudh Ravichander. 'Coolie' received 'A' from CBFC, and the makers have approached the Madras High Court seeking U/A revision.
