'Convincing Udhay was not easy'

She may come from a political family but her passion is filmmaking. Having started with short films, Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi is ready to kickstart her first big screen venture starring Shiva and Priya Anand with music by Anirudh.
On her debut, she says, 'Script by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi'... ' that's something I always used to dream about. Filmmaking has always been my passion and I used to write a lot of stories and screenplays during my leisure time.Now I think I have taken the decision to direct a film at the right time.'
But she says she had to struggle to convince her husband, Udhayanidhi, to produce the flick. Kiruthiga says, 'As a director, convincing Udhay, the producer, was never an easy task. I had to impress him with my script. He also made many changes and only then accepted to produce the film. Initially, I was trying to reach out to other producers with my script. Many of them were wondering why I was approaching them when I have a producer at home!'
Kiruthiga has not played assistant to any director but is confident about her debut film. She says, 'During the time OKOK was being shot, I narrated my story to director Rajesh. He encouraged me to take up direction.'
Being a mother of two kids, how tough is it to balance her career? She says, 'So far, I have been postponing my directorial dreams for my kids. But my mom, mother-in-law and sister-in-law are very supportive.' Father-in-law, Stalin, has also been very supportive of Kiruthiga's move. She says, 'My father-in-law always used to ask me updates about my film. It has never been a 'no' from him. He ensured that I accomplish my dream.'
