Content or Box Office? Suriya chooses his priority with 'Kanguva'

Suriya, one of the most popular actors in South Indian cinema, is gearing up for his next big release, 'Kanguva.' As the release date draws near, Suriya has been actively promoting the period drama and connecting with fans at various locations to build anticipation for the film. In a recent interview with Film Companion, Suriya was asked about the box office performance of 'Meiyazhagan,' a film he produced that stars Karthi and Aravind Swamy. Although 'Meiyazhagan' brought in over 25% profit, Suriya emphasized that for him, it's the quality of content that matters most—not the box office numbers. He shared that he hasn’t seen many recent films capturing human emotions as deeply as 'Meiyazhagan,' and he takes pride in supporting such meaningful projects.

While Suriya may not have 200-crore box office blockbusters, he feels proud of his film choices, such as Vetri Maaran's 'Vaadivaasal,' a project he's especially enthusiastic about. For 'Vaadivaasal,' which is set against the backdrop of Jallikattu, Suriya even trained with bulls, preparing intensely for the role, and humorously mentioned that even the bulls seem ready for the project! He assured fans that his upcoming release, 'Kanguva,' directed by Siruthai Siva, will be a success, reflecting his confidence in the film.

'Kanguva,' directed by Siruthai Siva, is a period drama that weaves together events from the present and 500 years ago. The cast includes Disha Patani, Bobby Deol, Natty, Kovai Sarala, and Yogi Babu, with music by Devi Sri Prasad. The film’s grand audio launch took place in Chennai on October 26.
