Cinematographer-director KV Anand passes away

Popular cinematographer turned director KV Anand passed away early morning on Friday at a private hospital in Chennai after he suffered a heart attack. The accalimed cinematographer was 54. His mortal remains will be brought to his home in Adyar and final rites will be performed in the evening.
KV Anand had apparently had a sudden chest pain late in the night yesterday, after which he himself had driven his car to the hospital and got himself admitted.Following a cardiac arrest early in the morning, the National Award winning cinematographer breathed his last at 3 a.m.
Interestingly, he had won the National Award for Best Cinematography for his debut film 'Thenmavin Kombath'. After being a photo journalist initially, KV Anand started his career in cinema as an camera assistant to the legendary PC Sreeram and has worked in films like 'Devar Magan' and 'Thiruda Thiruda'. Later in 2005, he turned director with Kana Kandaen and has directed about half a dozen films after that.
KV Anand has worked as a cinematographer in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. He has worked with the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Mohanlal and Rajinikanth as a cinematographer. He is also the founding member of the Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC). As a cinematographer, KV Anand had become to close to director Shankar and collaborated with him for Arjun-starrer 'Mudhalvan, 'Boys' and Rajinikanth-starrer 'Sivaji'.
His last film has a director was 'Kappaan' starring Suriya, Arya, Mohanlal and Sayyeshaa in the lead. Some of his notable films as director with stars include Suriya starred 'Ayan' & 'Mattrraan', Dhanush's 'Anegan' and Vijay Sethupathi starrer 'Kavan'.
