JPR aka John Paul Raj, who made Chennaiyil Oru Naal 2 with Sarath Kumar, is now going to direct Bobby Simha in a film titled Agni Dev. The puja of the film took place a couple of days ago in Coimbatore, where the team has begun the shoot.
Says the director, “Though we have started shooting in Coimbatore, this film is not set in the city. It is a story that take place across Tamil Nadu.

Since people have been shown places in Chennai in so many films, I just wanted to shoot here to visuals look different.”
Talking about the film, he says, “It is going to be a political thriller that is about the clash between the protagonist and the antagonist. In fact, the film has very little scope for a female character.”
While many are reporting that the film is based on a Rajeshkumar novel, the director clarifies, “Actually, Rajeshkumar sir, whose novel I had adapted for my previous film, and I have collaborated on this script together. This will be an original story, though we have taken some portions from his novels.” Well-known script consultant Karundhel Rajesh is writing the dialogues for the film.
While he says to reveal anything about Simha’s character (he neither confirms nor denies speculation that the actor will be seen as a cop), he informs that he has roped in actor Sathish not just because he is a comedian. “This is not a comic role; it will be a character that is crucial to the film,” says JPR, who will be co-directing the film with his cousin Sham Surya.
