A source says, "The film tackles the issue of Thalaikoothal, a practice where the elderly are abandoned to death, or killed. The film premiered in November 2018 in the Indian Panorama section of the 49th International Film Festival of India, Goa. It was also one of two Indian films nominated for the ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the event. It's also the only Tamil film to win an award at 66th National Film Awards. Vetri Maaran will be presenting the film."
