The Tamil film 'Maharaja' directed by Nithilan Swaminathan was critically acclaimed after its release in theatres on June 14. Starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, the suspense revenge drama managed to gross Rs 110 crore at the box office. The film marks Vijay Sethupathi's 50th film and the movie after its premiere on Netflix got more traction.
Following many praises from film stars including Rajinikanth, Atlee has now joined the list. Mentioning that he is late to the party, the 'Jawan' director called the movie the best and congratulated the cast and crew of the film. His post on Instagram read, "#Maharaja Loved it. Sorry, a little late to the party. Congratulations @actorvijaysethupathi na, @dir_nithilan bro and @jagadishpalanisamy my man."
The film features Vijay Sethupathi, Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natarajan Subramaniam, Abhirami among others. The film, apart from Tamil Nadu, ran well in Kerala and Telangana. Following its success in Kollywood, the movie is said to be remade in Hindi soon.
On the work front, director Nithillan Swaminathan is said to sign up for his next movie starring Nayanthara as the lead. Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi has quite a line up that includes 'Gandhi Talks', 'Viduthalai 2', 'Train' and 'Ace' which are in different stages of production.
