Actress Athulya, who has films like Yenni Thunigai, Cadaver, and Vattam lined up for release, is now all set to enter Tollywood. The actress is now part of an untitled film that stars up and coming star Kiran Abbavaram, and is produced by the makers of Pushpa.
Talking about landing the film, Athulya says, "I have been listening to scripts in Telugu for the past one year.
Since I was looking for a proper project to launch me in Tollywood, I had to wait for a while. That's when I got this offer from the makers of Pushpa. They had launched Krithi Shetty and Priyankaa Arul Mohan, so I felt they would provide me with a good launchpad as well."
She says the script and the nature of her role, too, played a part in her agreeing to be part of the film. "The script — a city-based subject— is a very good one, and my role isn't that of just a heroine who appears in a few scenes and songs; it is a role that is present throughout the film. Kiran Abbavaram, too, is a popular name who has delievred hits and is making a few movies for big banners. And the director, Ramesh Kaduri, has been an associate of well-known Tollywood directors Bobby and Gopichand Mallineni," she elaborates.
The actress admits that she doesn't know the language but ever since she had plans of entering Tollywood, she has been learning the language. "I've been learning Telugu for the past one year, and can already speak a bit of it now. In fact, I have been conversing in the language with my cast and crew now in Hyderabad," she adds.
She has already started shooting for this project, she informs. "We have been shooting for 10 days now. After completing a schedule of this film, I will be joining the set of my film with Harish Kalyan, directed by Shanmugam Muthusamy. I will shoot for that project for a 30-day schedule, and then rejoin this film's shoot," she says.
