Santhosh P Jayakumar, who shot to fame with Hara Hara Mahadevaki and Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuthu, is making
Pulanaivu
, a mystery crime thriller, with
Arvind Swami in the lead. The film, which will entirely be shot in and around Chennai, will go on floors from June 20.
“Arvind Swami will be essaying the role of a CB-CID officer. His appearance and characterisation will be quite different from how he has been portrayed in other films,” says Santhosh. The director says that he picked up such a subject because he didn’t want to be branded as a director who makes films in one particular genre — adult comedy.
Interestingly, the film will have no heroine! Director-turned-actor
Ameer and
John Vijay will be playing pivotal roles in this movie.
D Imman, who has been roped in as composer, reveals that the film will have four songs. He has already completed recording two of them. “I was, in fact, approached for Santhosh’s previous movies, but I was not so keen because of the content. This one is very different from what he has done so far. The songs will be upbeat and have an urban touch. They will not be standalone songs, but will be part of the narrative,” he tells us.
