After being part of the intriguing

Iravukku Aayiram Kangal

, Arulnithi has signed his next with debutant

Barath Neelakantan

. The film, we hear, will be a

thriller

, which will have a gripping narrative. Barath says, “I have been writing a couple of scripts ever since I decided to become a filmmaker. This is, in fact, my second script. As soon as I wrote this, I felt it demanded a protagonist like Arulnithi. There is a fictional character in the film and I have sketched a certain behaviour for the same. I felt Arulnithi would be apt for this role as I have seen his films and noticed his body language. So, the producers and I met him for the narration. Interestingly, he had gotten his very close friends, about eight or 10 of them, for the narration. The entire process took about six hours and I really liked how so many people were there along with him; they are my target audience. I left for home late in the night, but Arulnithi called me immediately and confirmed that he was taking up the project as he really liked the script.”

Though Arulnithi has been choosing thriller scripts, this one’s a tad different, says the filmmaker. “I don’t want to use the term ‘different’... but I guarantee that this film will not be like the ones he was part of earlier,” he says. The makers are yet to confirm the rest of the cast and crew. He adds, “The female lead has an equal role to play in the film. We plan to begin shoot by the end of July. ”

Barath, who has earlier worked as an associate in

Nibunan

, says, “I am very new to cinema, in the sense that I have been working in the field for the last five years. I was a recruiter in a software company, but have always been passionate about films. I have done a short film, worked on an independent film and then, on Nibunan. I wanted to make films that I like watching... genres that involve the mind. I hope this one lives up to it.”
