A film titled 'Veeramangai Velu Nachiyar' is being made to narrate the valiant history of India's first woman freedom fighter Velu Nachiyar. The film directed by R Aravintha Raj will mark the acting debut of Ayisha, who will play the lead role as Velu Nachiyar. Buzz is that award winning music composer AR Rahman will be scoring music for the biopic.
Interestingly, JM Bashir, who is the producer of this film and has played Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar in the movie 'Desiya Thalaivar', plays an important character Periya Maruthu. It is noteworthy that Ayisha is his daughter.
Produced by JM Bashir under Trends Cinemas banner, the film was launched on Wednesday (3 January) at Thevar Mahal in T Nagar, Chennai. Speaking about the film, producer and actor J M Bashir said, "We are very proud to bring Velu Nachiyar's biography to the screen. It is a great pleasure to have my daughter Ayisha in the lead role."
The film will have J Sridhar taking care of cinematography and stunts will be choreographed by Miracle Michael.
