AR Rahman gives an unexpected answer when asked about his favorite Marvel character, recalls working on multiple films
A.R. Rahman, who is known for his musical work across regions, recently shared an interesting moment from his ordinary life. In an exclusive interview with IANS, the Oscar-winning composer revealed that he often watches Marvel films with his team. “We get together, 20-30 people, sit at the back of the theater, eat popcorn and enjoy. We go like this once every two to three months,” Rahman said with a laugh. Such small pleasures provide a break from the busy world of music and allow you to experience what the sound system is like in world-famous Hollywood films.
When asked who his favorite character in the Marvel films was, Rahman gave an unexpected answer. He said that it's not the superheroes themselves that are important to him, but the music and sound design that bring those stories to life that are most appealing. "Since it's the artist's mind, I can't help but notice. I only notice how the songs have been used, whether the music is innovative, and whether it can be done better. It's like people are criticizing my music," he said with a laugh.
AR Rahman has also spoken openly about his recent changes in his musical journey. Recalling the experience of working day and night for many years, working on multiple films at the same time, he said that he felt that there was no room for a personal life. He also shared that he has now slowed down his work pace in order to prioritize his family and personal life.
"Sometimes we plan everything, but it gets cancelled. Some things are beyond our control. I have accepted that life flows like water. No matter what bottle you pour it into, it somehow takes the same shape," Rahman said philosophically. It is this approach that brings him peace and creates a balance between music and life. He has revealed himself as an artist who values sound and silence equally.
