Appukutty's Vaazhga Vivasayi pushes release date to avoid clash with Darbar

The film has Appukutty playing a farmer
We'd earlier reported that Appukutty is playing the lead in a film, titled

Vaazhga Vivasayi

. Now, the latest on the film is that the film, slated for a Pongal release, will not keep its date with theatres because the makers didn't want to clash with Rajinikanth's

Darbar

, which hit screen today.

Appukutty says, "I've almost eight films in my kitty, including Vallavanukku Vallavan, Boom Boom Kaalai and Mayanadhi, and they are all in various stages of production. But Vaazhga Vivasayi is special for me because I'm a farmer's son and I play a farmer in the film. I'm proud of my role and I can say that the film will be loved for the audience. It was supposed to release for Pongal, and I'm a little hurt that it's not releasing for the harvest festival. But there's a solid reason why we decided to push it. Darbar is a big budget film and stars big stars like Rajinikanth. If we release our film at this time, it might affect our BO collection, and there's a chance that it might not get its due recognition. The film talks about a lot of issues and has some interesting details that will be a revelation for audience."

The film, directed by Ponni Mohan, stars

Vasundhara

, Muthuraman and Hello Kandhasamy among others.
