Superstar Rajinikanth's timeless epic 'Padayappa' was re-released in theaters on December 12 to mark its 25th anniversary. This day, which coincided with Rajinikanth's 75th birthday and the 50th anniversary of his film career, became a festival for fans. On this special occasion, Rajinikanth's daughter, actress and director Soundarya Rajinikanth, moved everyone to tears as she watched the film 'Padayappa' with fans at the Rohini Silver Screens theatre in Chennai. A video of Soundarya watching the film, accompanied by fans' whistles, applause, and cheers, went viral on social media.

Speaking to the media after the screening, Soundarya Rajinikanth shared her experience watching the film and shared her joy. “I am very happy. First of all, I would like to thank the fans who are still celebrating this film after 25 years. Today, I watched this film with my father's fans. Watching the classic film 25 years later, it felt like a new film. The energy and vibes in the theater were amazing," she said.
Soundarya calls 'Padayappa' an emotion
Soundarya Rajinikanth further said, “My plan was to watch the film on December 12. But I couldn’t make it because I had to go to Tirupati the next day. I was happy to be able to watch it with the fans today. I've seen songs re-released before. But today, for the first time, they re-released that famous swing scene. 'Appa' is a feeling. 'Padayappa' is a feeling," she said with emotion. Finally, Soundarya thanked the fans on behalf of her entire family and Rajinikanth, saying that their love and support have kept the film alive over time.
'Padayappa' re-release gains attention
The re-release of 'Padayappa' is running with houseful screenings across the globe, proving once again that Rajinikanth and 'Padayappa' will forever remain a sensation in the hearts of fans. Directed by KS Ravi Kumar, 'Padayappa' was originally released in 1999, and the film also features Ramya Krishnan, Soundarya, Sivaji Ganesan, Nassar, and Manivannan among others.
