One more film joins the list of movies that are set in the 80s. Titled
Thoratti
and directed by Marimuthu, the project has
Shaman Mithru and
Sathya Kala
playing lead roles. Set against the backdrop of the lives of shepherds, the movie has been shot in Dindigul, Madurai, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai.
Shaman says, “A realistic film, it narrates the story of people who struggle to make ends meet. In terms of making and development of characterisations, Thoratti will be on the lines of
Subramaniapuram
,
Vaagai Sooda Va
and Paruthiveeran. As the crew wanted every artiste to be at their natural best while performing, we were trained for six months. A mock test was done for five days, where artistes had to perform in their respective character’s costumes and makeup. Impressed by the film, producer-director CV Kumar said he was more than happy to release it.”
Thoratti, which has music by Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom fame Ved Shankar, has cinematography by Kumar Sreedhar. The movie is set for a release in September.
