Despite a promising debut in Vasantabalan’s

, Mahesh’s career did not take off. Now, the actor is looking to resurrect it with a new project that has been titled

Teynampettai Mahesh

, the film will see the actor playing a female character as well.

“The film is a commercial action drama, and Mahesh will be seen in two roles,” says the director, and elaborates, “One of the characters is that of a coward. MS Baaskar plays his father, and the first half will have scenes where he tries to save his father from dangerous situations. But his father doesn’t have a good opinion of him because of his fearful nature, and the second half will reveal the true identity of this character.”

The female character will be crucial to the plot, informs Sidhick. “Mahesh loved this character when I narrated the story, and has been putting in a lot of effort to make the look convincing. Even for the photoshoot, he was extremely patient and did four trial looks,” he says in praise of the actor.

The film, which had its puja on Saturday, will go on floors in the next few days.
