Amzath, who got his break in Kollywood with
Ashwin Saravanan’s
Maya, is teaming up with the same director again for
Iravaakaalam. The thriller, which stars SJ Suryah, Sshivada and
Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead, will have Amzath playing a crucial role. “I was in touch with
Ashwin even after finishing Maya. Once he finalised this script, I met him and read it. The film was too interesting that I was eager to know if I was part of it.
He had narrated this character called
David and asked me to take it up. But he didn’t finalise my name until I gave my audition for the role. After several rounds of audition, he eventually said I was part of the film,” says Amzath, with a sigh of relief.
Ask him to describe his role and he becomes cagey, “This film does not follow the regular format of a hero, heroine and villain. We see films, which have a villain, who will harm the hero. That is mostly shown with use of stunts, fights etc. But here Ashwin has given an emotion to every character. In fact, the emotion takes over more than the action. I play a suspicious guy… there is a small physical transformation for this character and I will have two variations. And yes,
Iravaakaalam means an ongoing time frame and my character has a connect with the title.”
Amzath says that the way Ashwin has prepared his cast will only help them while shooting. “Every single person who was cast in the film had to go rigorous rehearsals. We started rehearsals much before the shoot. In fact, I finally knew I was part of the film once he was convinced with my dialogue delivery for the character he’s written. It will only help us while shooting,” says Amzath, who will begin shooting for his portions soon.
