‘Amaran’ box office collections day 9: Sivakarthikeyan starrer crosses Rs 140 crores

Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi’s recently released biopic, Amaran, is doing well at the box office, and audiences are giving it good reviews.

According to the Sacnilk website, ‘Amaran’ has collected Rs 140.6 crores in 9 days and India's net collections stand at Rs 122.25 crores.

‘Amaran’ has collected Rs 98.95 crores from Tamil Nadu, and the gross collections from the state are Rs 94.9 crores, which is quite impressive. From the Telugu markets, ‘Amaran’ has collected Rs 22.63 crores in 9 days, and from Kerala, the movie has only collected Rs 4 lakhs.


Coming to the day-wise collections, ‘Amaran’ has minted Rs 5.85 crores on day 9 from Tamil Nadu, 2 lakhs from Karnataka, 1 lakh from Hindi markets, and Rs 1.43 crores from Telugu-speaking regions.


‘Amaran’ has also performed well abroad as its overseas collections stand at Rs 56.9 crores and the worldwide collections in 9 days are Rs 197.5 crores.


Starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in the lead, ‘Amaran’ hit the big screens on October 31 and the movie received good reviews from the audiences.


ETimes gave this Major Mukund Varadarajan biopic a solid 3.5 out of 5 and our review reads, “Tamil mainstream movies, especially the ones that feature a massive star as the protagonist, almost always show their heroes coming out unscathed at the end, no matter how much odds are stacked against them. In some way, it can be said that the audience has also been accustomed to watching the protagonist fight against all odds and emerge scatheless. In Amaran’s case, we already know that the officer on whom the movie is based is no more with us, and throughout the film, even during the comforting moments that Mukund shares with his family and colleagues, there is a bittersweet feeling that we carry with us. But, even if Rajkumar Periasamy wasn't able to completely do justice to Mukund as a family man, he has given justice to the brave soldier that Mukund was and continues to be remembered as.”
