Ajmal is sure that his upcoming K V Anand-directed flick will fetch him accolades and recognitionNothing has ever got Ajmal so excited. The actor, who was last seen in the comic caper Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru, just cannot wait for his Ko to release!
Ive done just a couple of movies in Tamil, but my characters in them were memorable. To this day, people havent forgotten Kripa from Anjathey.
And Im sure Vasanthan Perumal (the character I play in Ko) will find a place in the hearts of the audiences once the film hits screens, begins Ajmal.
Talking about his character in the K V Anand-directed flick, he says, Im very selective about the movies I sign and I can gladly say this is a dream role. Ive always wanted to play a character thats both soft-spoken and powerful at the same time. When Anand sir came up with the offer, I grabbed it!
He adds, Vasanthan Perumal is a gentleman and extremely focussed. Ive done a lot of homework for the film and observed people from different professions to do justice to the role. Anand had also drawn a fine sketch of my character before starting the shoot.
Ko, the actor says, will focus on several issues prevalent in society. Everyone who watches this film will want to do something for the country. They will want to stand up and fight social evils. Anand has taken a huge risk with this film because he has explored a theme thats new to Indian cinema. In the last two years, a variety of daring and experimental Tamil films have made it to the theatres. Ko belongs to that category of movies that will create a big revolution in filmmaking, he says.
But he is quick to add that the film will not be too serious in nature. The film is as commercial as it can get. Theres Harris Jayaraj, whos churned out hit numbers for the film, and theres Anthony, whos made the film a fast-paced one with his editing, he says.
Ajmal is happy that Ko is getting him recognition even in Tollywood. Some of the big producers from Andhra Pradesh whove seen the dubbed version of the film, Rangam, have already offered me projects in Telugu. I know Ko will be a big stepping stone to success for me, he signs off.
