Aishwarya Rajinikanth is popular for directing the Tamil films '3' and 'Vai Raja Vai', and she is making her directorial comeback after 9 years with 'Lal Salaam'. Aishwarya Rajinikanth's third director, 'Lal Salaam', was earlier announced to release for Pongal, and the makers tried to make the film have a grand release, battling with 'Captain Miller' and 'Ayalaan'. But 'Lal Salaam' was postponed from its Pongal release, and the makers have now made it official. By locking February as the new release date for 'Lal Salaam', the makers confirmed the film's postponement from the Pongal release. The makers have unveiled a new poster to announce to fans the revised release date of 'Lal Salaam', and it hints at some message about the film's story.

'Lal Salaam' failed to hit the big screens for Pongal, reportedly due to the delay in the film's post-production work. However, Aishwarya Rajinikanth's directorial is sure to release on the newly announced date, and the extended break will allow the film to shape up flawlessly.

'Lal Salaam' will be a sports drama that is set in a cricket backdrop and it features Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles. Rajinikanth will be seen playing a supporting character as Moideen Bhai to add strength to his daughter Aishwarya's comeback directorial, and the film also has Jeevitha Rajashekar making her comeback as an actress to play a supporting role. AR Rahman is scoring the music for the sports drama, and the film is set to have a pan-Indian release.
