Aishwarya Rajesh alleges harassment by a photographer; shares shocking early career experience
Aishwarya Rajesh has already been recognized as a great actress in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi movies. Now she has narrated an unsettling event from her early career. According to the actress, a photographer made her strip in front of him. Through this incident, Aishwarya Rajesh has brought the issue to light where young actors/actresses are vulnerable to unsafe sexual acts off the movie shootings.
Speaking to Nikhil Vijayendra Simha, Aishwarya explained her feelings of being overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. “I was very young and had gone with my brother. The photographer asked him to sit outside, took me inside, handed me lingerie, and said, ‘I want to see your body,’” she recalled. She further added that “At that age, I didn’t have enough understanding of the industry. Perhaps that is how life goes. I was almost convinced, but not yet. Had he endured it for two more minutes, that would have been tolerable.”
She told the photographer that she needed her brother's permission before she went out of the room. Aishwarya said later, “I wonder how many girls he got to do this... I never told my brother.” What courage for a young girl. But this was hidden because of some fear or shyness.
The brave Aishwarya also narrated a funny incident when one of the directors shouted at her. “I remembered this incident when I reported late for work on the sets, and my director shouted at me in front of other junior artists. He was not angry with me but used to always compare me with other actresses. He might have done wrong with me, and then he reprimanded me in front of everyone. Don't embarrass people in such a way, even if they have made a mistake," she said. The incident explains the agony that women suffer in the film industry, besides the brutal exploitation. Aishwarya Rajesh did not mention the name of the photographer nor the director in her post but wanted to embark on the great challenges.
Aishwarya Rajesh has a lot of projects lined up with the likes of ‘Oh..! Sukumari works with director Bharat Darshan and continues to focus on her work.
