Actor Kreshna booked on dowry charge

Following a complaint by his wife Hemalatha alias Kaivalya, Tamil film actor Kreshna was booked under the dowry harassment charge by the Coimbatore district police. Director Vishnuvardhan���s brother actor Kreshna, had filed a divorce petition in a city family court alleging physical and verbal abuse from his wife, a few months ago. Now it is reported that Kaivalya filed a police complaint in June alleging, Kreshna and his parents to have demanded 300 sovereigns of gold jewellery and `32 lakh cash as dowry.
The reports say that she was tortured demanding the balance jewellery as her family has given only 118 sovereign of gold jewellery and `35 lakh cash. It is also said that Kaivalya in her complaint has also alleged Krishna had extramarital affairs with a woman who acted in one of his films. Since the SC ruled that a magistrate���s nod is required for arrest in such cases, the police has not arrested the actor but only filed a chargesheet.
