It was déjà vu for us — seeing Aarusaamy and Bhuvana re-enacting their romance after almost 15 years. They are energetic, playful and their attitude is intact. In fact, during the course of a song shoot near Palani, when Aarusaamy calls Bhuvana ‘molagapodi’, it’s not just the team of Saamy² that gets nostalgic, but even we go on a trip down memory lane.
“In Saamy, Aarusaamy calls Bhuvana molagapodi. The scene was very popular and people remember the sequence even today. The word kind of defined their relationship. So, for Saamy², we decided to use a song to establish their chemistry. Naanga nenacha madhiriye amanjudhu,” begins director
Hari.
“Vikram is Aarusaamy, and
Aishwarya Rajesh is Bhuvana,” says Hari. The song was shot over a period of five days, and the team had erected huge village sets for the same. “The set work alone took us about 10 days,” informs the director, adding, “We erected sets in Palani, Courtallam and Sengottai. We created two mini villages for the song; it’d be impossible to shoot in real villages.”
Interestingly, Molagapodiye will be the introduction song in the film. Hari says with a smile, “For the first time, instead of a hero introduction song, I’m using a duet to open the film. Romba dhairyama vechurukken; I’m confident about this number.
It’s a folk song, but has a beautiful melody to it. This number will be releasing on July 18 as a single; this is the second single from the film.”
Baba Bhaskar was the man of the moment, and we spotted master and Hari huddling together and discussing the intricacies of the choreography. The song, which has been penned by Viveka, has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad and sung by Sanjith Hegde and Rita. While
Vikram was visibly thrilled to be back as Saamy, Aishwarya, who rocked the kandangi selai, fit into her role perfectly. Hari says, “We just have another song, with Keerthy Suresh and Vikram sir, left to be shot. We will be heading to Ukraine in another 10 days for that. With that, it’s a wrap for the film.”
