After giving us the low-key thriller Kirumi, Anucharan Murugaiyan is now wrapping up his next film, Pannikutty, a full-length comedy that revolves around a piglet, and which has Karunakaran and Yogi Babu playing the leads. “I have been wanting to make a comedy, and this subject, which interested me a lot because not many films have dealt with it, was in that space. Also, I had co-written Aandavan Kattalai, so that gave me the confidence that I could explore humour,” says Anucharan. But he clarifies that this film will not be a black comedy like Oru Kidaaiyin Karunai Manu (OKKM). “That film had a serious subject that was treated in a humorous way. But this film’s premise itself will be comical. I do not want to reveal the one-line plot right now, but when you get to hear it, you will understand that this is a subject can only be made as a comedy, unlike OKKM, which can also be presented in a serious way,” he says. The shoot is in its final stages, but the team has begun post-production work now, he informs. The film has been shot in places like Usilampatti and in the villages around Madurai. The supporting cast includes comedians Singam Puli, Ramar, Pazhaya Joke Thangadurai, Dindigul Leoni and TP Gajendran. K, who composed for Kirumi, will be doing the music for this film as well, while Sathish Murugan handles the cinematography.
