The Vinay-Santhanam pair seems to have been accepted by the audiences and at the box office too. The Madhesh-directed
Mirattal, which was promoted aggressively, has struck a chord with family audiences in the state perhaps due to its humour quotient and appeal.
'We've collected more than 6 crores in 9 days,' says producer Dr J
Murali Manohar of Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd, 'In the first week itself, we released the film in almost 300 screens which is much more than what normally would have been for a Vinay-Santhanam film. So, we concentrated a lot on the first week and did well then.'
As a producer, he's intent of giving audiences a healthy mix of big and small films from his stable. 'While out next big release is the Rajini-starrer
Kochadaiyaan, we also make sure we have enough content in terms of a variety of films for our theatres,' he says, 'Last year, we did some other small and medium films as well. And now, other than
Kochadaiyaan, we plan to release the Suriya-starrer
Maattrraan in some areas too.'
As a producer, what's one thing he ensures in all his films? 'I emphasise a lot on the one-liner of a film's subject,' says Murali Manohar, who has done films like
Jeans,
Jodi,
Minnale,
Thambi among others, 'If that appeals to me, then I will take it up. Even during my chats with my friend
Subhash Ghai, this is what we've stressed upon. If the line is right, everything about the film will be right.'
