Of late Kollywood filmmakers are coming up with films that feature current issues. Debutant director Hari Uthraa has taken up the farmers’ issue in his film, Theru Naaigal. The story revolves around the problems faced by the farmers, and it also throws light on how corporate sectors destroy their livelihood.
Talking about the film, the director, says, “It’s a political drama that talks about how farmers in the delta regions are affected by corporates.

Most of the scenes are shot in the interior regions of Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, and Mannarkudi. Madhu Sudhan Rao of Goli Soda fame plays the villain in the film.” He adds, “We have wrapped up the shoot, and the film is set to release in a month’s time. There is no one leading protagonist in the film as the movie revolves around five friends — Pradeep, Appukutty, Raams, Imman Annachi, and Pavel. Artistes like Mime Gopi, Naidu, Sushil and Dheena play crucial roles.”
