After directing the likable romcom

Kadhal Kan Kattuthe

,

R Shivaraj

is all set to begin his next, an action film titled

Godha

that revolves around the rivalry between two

gangs

.

“In the film, Godha is an area in Coimbatore where people mortgage their vehicles against loans, and the this entire act is called ‘fitting’ in local parlance. A gang controls this area. Similarly, another gang, run by a politician’s underling, is involved in vehicle seizing. The very nature of their work creates conflicts between the two gangs because those who seize vehicles cannot enter the Godha. And exploiting this, some people buy vehicles on loan and then mortgage them with the men in Godha for a small amount. What happens when the characters in these two gangs realise that they are being exploited by someone else and try to change their lives for the better is what the plot is all about,” elaborates the director.

He adds, “I showed the rosy side of Coimbatore in my debut film, and I wanted to do a film that was in total contrast to that one as my next. This one will be a realistic action film that will show the dark side of the city.” Also, as he did in his debut film, he has gone for new faces this time, too, but he adds that talks are on with some popular names to play a few supporting characters.
