' was directed by cinematographer-turned-director C Prem Kumar. The film went on to become a huge box-office hit due to its fresh script and new concept.
It is reported that the film will be now remade in
Kannada
with the title '
99
'. The film will star Ganesh and Bhavana in lead roles and it will be directed by ace director Pritam Gabbi.
Produced by Ramu Enterprises, the shooting of '99' will commence today (December 17). If reports are to be believed, Bhavana wasn’t too keen initially to taking up Trisha’s role since she doesn’t like to star in remakes. However, she agreed to come on board for '99' after watching '96' and found the story interesting.
Also, the remake will not be an exact replica of the original. The makers are trying to wrap up the film soon as they are eyeing for release in March 2019.
