Filmfare Awards

South 2019 witnessed a galaxy of southern stars and they put forth their best looks at the event. The night was filled with energetic performances and emotional speeches.

The nominees for 66th Yamaha Fascino Filmfare Awards 2019 - Best Actor In A Leading Role (Female) were Aishwarya Rajesh for 'Kanaa', Jyotika for 'Kaatrin Mozhi', Nayanthara for 'Kolamavu Kokila', Sai Pallavi for 'Maari 2' and
Trisha for '96'.

And Trisha bagged the award for Best Actor In A Leading Role (Female) for her performance in Prem Kumar's '96'.

While receiving the award, Trisha said, "I'm very proud of this film. Thank you very much, Prem, for giving me such an amazing lead role. I would like to thank Vijay Sethupathi for being such an amazing co-artist and I could play the role of Jaanu with ease only because you were my Ram."

Trisha also added that it was a pleasure to receive the award in Chennai. She also thanked Filmfare for helping her end 2019 on a positive note as she had lost someone close a few days ago.

This is Trisha's fourth Filmfare Award in the category of Best Actor in a Leading Role (female) after 'Varsham' in 2004, 'Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana' in 2005 and 'Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule' in 2007.

Interestingly, this would be her second Filmfare award for a Tamil film after her Best Actress (Critics) award for her role in 'Kodi' in 2016.
